I carve each ring's texture to go around the entire outer surface. In order to preserve the quality of the texture and give customers multiple width and ring size options, each ring — with few exceptions — is carved to order.

It is very important that I have an accurate ring size for your order. Most of my designs cannot be made smaller without damaging the texture. I can however, make the ring about 1/4 to 1/2 size larger. How much I can stretch a ring will depend on the design and metal.

It is very important that I have an accurate bangle size for your order since this is a final sale. Most of my designs cannot be made smaller without damaging the shape and texture. I can however, make the bangle a bit larger — the range will depend on the design and metal.

Jewelry is usually happiest when worn. If possible store pieces in a sealed plastic bag to keep oxidation out and delay the tarnishing process.
• Sterling with dark finish: Do NOT use cleaning solutions or try to polish the piece as these processes will damage or remove the finish. The dark patina finish tends to darken with wear and age, producing a deeper contrast with any polished elements.
• Bright sterling silver and 18K gold: Commercial polish dips can be used to clean and brighten jewelry that has tarnished — please make sure to wash the piece well after using these chemicals.
• Pearls: do not immerse pearls in a commercial jewelry cleaner as you risk dulling the pearls. 

I personally hand carve all rings in wax and use a lost wax casting method to go from wax to sterling silver or gold. Each piece is a small sculpture that clients get to wear as jewelry. This allows the textures to wrap around each ring without interruption. Casting gives my jewelry the weight and presence that I love.
In addition to lost wax casting, I use traditional fabrication and forming techniques employed by goldsmiths for generations to create some of the elements and accents in my jewelry.

I use primarily sterling silver which is available in two finishes: bright silver and dark patina. These finishes are achieved through chemical reactions that either brighten the sterling silver or accelerate the oxidizing process. I always look for the most earth friendly processes.
I also use 18K and 22k yellow gold and on occasion, platinum. I prefer to work in 18K rather than 14K because of the quality and color of the metal. Additional gold colors such as rose gold are available upon request.

I use white diamonds SI1 quality, and sometimes cognac diamonds. Specific grade stones can be provided as a custom order. If you are interested in an engagement ring, please contact me to discuss your diamond options.

I use predominantly precious stones — diamonds, rubies, sapphires (pink, yellow, orange, green, blue). You will see semi precious stones — moonstone, topaz, citrine, peridot, lapis, quartz, onyx, carnelian, chrysoprase and chalcedony — when I use briolette cut (faceted drop) stones.

Most of the pearls I use are fresh water pearls, often nubbly irregular shaped pearls. I sometimes use classic salt water pearls for earring studs.

Emeralds and tanzanites are very fragile stones. The way I set my stones combined with the weight of my jewelry can put these fragile stones at risk of breaking so in general I avoid working with them.

Most of my work could be considered one-of-a-kind — meaning that each piece is unique. In some cases I find an unusual stone or create a design of which I make only one piece. If the piece is no longer available please contact me to see if I can make a similar piece for you.

Items made to order without stones usually ship in 2 to 4 weeks.

If there should be a fabrication defect — porosity or a faulty connection — please contact Dahlia within 14 days of receipt of your order with a photograph of your piece.
If upon inspection, the repair is necessary because of a fabrication defect, Dahlia will repair the piece at no charge within if you contact her within 14 days of receipt.
Jewelry that needs a repair or refinishing because of normal wear and use will be repaired or freshened up for a fee. Please contact Dahlia to make arrangements before you send anything for repair.

All made to order items are final sale. These include rings and bracelets made to size and all gold, platinum and palladium jewelry.

Returns - All other pieces

Returns must be agreed upon by Dahlia Kanner Studio and buyer in writing on an individual basis. Agreed upon items must be in their original condition may be returned within 14 days of package delivery for studio credit or exchange only. All packages are tracked and shipped via USPS. You must contact Dahlia by email for return shipping instructions.
Customer is responsible for shipping fees on any returns.
